MC Brains Featured on New Jack Swing Track
B.K.W.H (Beckwith) is releasing his eagerly anticipated R&B Cut ‘You’re That Kind of Girl’ featuring the legendary Motown Rapper M.C. Brains of (Oochie Coochie) fame. The song has been remixed and given a fresh twist by the European producer Jimmy Antony.
The introduction of B.K.W.H and Jimmy Antony was via Helen Williams of Elite Management. “Helen has been one of my representatives for the last 10 years.
I asked her if she knew any producers who could create New Jack beats” B.K.W.H said.
“It had been nearly 10 years since ‘You’re That Kind of Girl’ had come out and hit the Billboard Top 100 but I always felt it could have been bigger and better” he said.
As luck would have it, Jimmy was exactly the producer B.K.W.H was looking for. “We approached the song as if we were pitching a song for a Biv 10/Motown project in the early 90s” B.K.W.H said. “Trying to become another part of the Eastcoast Family. We wanted to go into the office with Michael Bivins and show him what we could do, somewhat like Boyz II Men did when they originally auditioned for him. If you were going to place a song on that label in the 90s, it would help if you could get a verse from M.C. Brains, one of the best New Jack Swing rappers of all time, who had worked with Boyz II Men and New Edition members including Johnny Gill and used a sound which could have been produced by Rico Anderson. Using some Teddy Riley inspiration from Big Bub’s ‘I Like Your Style,’ the song wouldn’t be out of place on the House Party II soundtrack” said B.K.W.H
This is the first official release by the London based B.K.W.H in 2020. Formerly recording under the name Beckwith, this is the 2020 re-brand, bringing a New Jack Swing, Hip Hop Soul Sound to Nouveau Soul Records (a subsidiary of Aslan Nouveau).
Critics have already claimed it could be the Best New Jack Swing song of 2020, as it follows in the steps of Bruno Mars (Finesse) and brings back that authentic Street Sound of the 90s! The song includes a feature from Biv10, Motown recording artist M.C. Brains, the Gold selling artist who was one of the most prominent voices from the New Jack Swing movement.
