Bill Withers Dies at 81

Legendary Singer Bill Withers has passed away at the age of 81 in Los Angeles. Withers, born in West Virginia in 1938, was a three-time Grammy Award Winner and has a catalog of hit records. He was best known the classics “Lean on Me” and “Lovely Day.” In the 70’s, Withers scored big with the hits “Ain’t no Sunshine” and “Use Me.” His songs have been sampled several times by big name Hip Hop Artists over the years. Most notably Big Daddy Kane and DJ Jazzy JEFF and the Fresh Prince. Withers wrote the song “Just the Two of us” which was performed by Grover Washington Jr and top the charts. His last album was the 1985 “Watching You Watching Me.” Withers is survived by his wife, Marcia; a son Todd; and a daughter Kori.
